JoshUCA to be fair, Murray sits on a huge pile of NIL money they accumulated after their run in March a few years ago. It’s a step up. He’s an electric player but I don’t think he was going to get a huge bag from a big school just because of the measurables.

Yeah, I would say 2025-2026 roster is just as good if not better. Really surprised it turned out the way it did.

joshgoff wow. It’s weird since it seems like half of all D1 teams go to the portal every year. Seems like meaningless musical chairs. Also, I doubt the credits transfer when it’s 4 schools in 4 years, so do they even go to class? Majoring in bball for sure.

It was interesting to read he would have 3 years eligibility left. I thought the Diego Pavia case made it where all juco start with a new 4 years, the juco years don’t count anymore.

MountainBear I’m not entirely sure all the specifics of it, but my understanding is that it doesn’t just give all JUCO transfers a clean slate, but was a blanket waiver for 2025-26 specifically, for athletes whose NCAA eligibility would have otherwise expired this year (which is why Bree Stephens qualified for the additional season); and that the NCAA is appealing the ruling hoping to go back to enforcing the eligibility rules as they were before.

So even though Chris Mason was in the JUCO system for a year, he doesn’t get that additional year under the Pavia waiver because he still has NCAA eligibility remaining. Now, he may end up getting it in a few years based on how the forthcoming court proceedings go, but for now it’s still just three years.
