They also beat Eastern Kentucky and Bellarmine (the two teams we lost to), the latter being by 22. They’re 8-0 at home, with an average score of 94.3!-76.6 and 6 of the 8 by double figures (4 by 20+) – though it hasn’t exactly been Murderer’s Row visiting Curry Arena.
I don’t know if I like our chances, but do think we’ve got a decent shot. It seems like we’re good enough that there’s not a surefire L left on the schedule. But man, they shoot it so well at home … 39.9% from 3 (making 13 per game – including 24 of 54, yes 54, vs Bellarmine), and that’s with two stinkers of 3-15 vs North Alabama & 5-24 vs EKU. So in 75% of their home games, they’re shooting 43.4% from 3 with over 16 makes per game. We need to force them into one of those off nights they apparently have 25% of the time. We do have by far the best defensive rating (per KenPom) of any team to go in there this season, so that does seem encouraging.
Would be a pleasant surprise to go in there and steal one from them. Nice to even be having the conversation, visiting a league co-leader with belief we’ve got a legit chance, rather than heading to SFA wondering whether we’re going to lose by 30, or 40.
