UCABears19 You beat me to posting it. This is interesting to me. Does this leave the door open for a potential new head coach? I mean if he’s basically taking over these two coaching positions, when is going to be the head man? Sounds like this is a way to keep him around, but slip someone else in as HC.

"It will be the first time as a head coach that I've assumed these roles."

Makes it seem like he's staying Head Coach and assuming OC and QB roles. Maybe down the road open up for new HC? The news mentions more coaching changes to be made down the road which could also mean on defensive side. Honestly the wording towards the end sounds like a complete wash of everyone and starting over but I highly doubt that is the case. Will be very interesting to see what changes are made and I hope they're made quickly before our talent decides to enter in the portal.

What's interesting about how the article is written is that it doesn't say what is happening with Coach Collums. Is he staying on board but being downgraded to WRs coach seeing how Coach Johnson won't be with us any longer.

So Ken Collums is out? And now Matt Whitting actually thinks that Nathan Brown can do 3 jobs at once? This is a freaking joke

If it means the offense being a little less predictable and scoring even more points with Coach Brown splitting the HC/OC/QB Coach duties, I'm all for it. It's not too uncommon that offensive minded coaches call their own plays. Maybe this is what we need to outscore opponents until we can get things figured out on defense.

I agree. I don’t think this is a bad thing. Our team was pretty good under Browns OC days and if this gives us the spark that we had back then, then great!! I hope Collums is completely gone. Go back to ACU and make them bad again. But article says that more changes to come. Hopefully that means special teams will get revamped. As for defense. I’m not sure if a change is needed. Toward end of the season there was definitely something wrong but as a whole the defense has been what won us a majority of the games we did get.

“One thing that you do as a head coach is you're evaluating every piece and aspect of your program, and that's from top to bottom," he said. "From myself, to coordinators, to assistants within your program, as well as your players. So there will be more staff realignment as we move forward, and we're looking forward to putting the right pieces in place, coaches who are going to push our players to take another step in not only our UAC play but to have a chance in November and December to be a playoff-caliber team every single year.

"And that's on both sides of the ball, including special teams, that I feel is necessary to make us better, to make us a contender every single year. There's nothing more precious to me than the University of Central Arkansas football program, and because of that, I don't take any changes lightly. But I do take changes seriously.

"Nothing gives me more joy than watching my alma mater succeed in the sport I was fortunate enough to play here at UCA.
I'm excited about this. It's a new challenge. It will be the first time as a head coach that I've assumed these roles. It's exciting and I'm looking forward to it. I'm going to surround myself with really talented coaches, and coaches that are going to give everything they have for our program."

Main concern to me.. We can’t lose Henry or others to portal over the changes.

Gready I’m all for getting collums out of the decision making, but there is an overall weakness to these past 4 seasons of uca teams. They degrade as the season goes and that to me signifies a cultural aspect in the program that is lacking. Maybe these guys aren’t pushed like they should be, i really dont know. But i’ve talked to multiple people that say there are player conflicts that just fester as the season has gone on this year and a general lack of leadership.

It’s a very difficult task to manage an organization of over 100 people and ensure all the details and personnel are taken care of. Nathan Brown is still learning on the job and hasn’t figured it out in 4 years. Wholesale change is needed.

      15 days later

Heard Collums is now the TE coach. Brown has taken over as OC/HC etc…

Maybe TE and WR coach seeing how Coach Johnson isn't with the program any longer?
