Head Coach & GM Candidates - Footballl

GoBearsGo

cfbevaluator I gotta agree with you on this. College football today moves so quick. I don’t feel like with the increase in funds, new rosters and coaches that we can call 2024 “recent.” A lot has changed since then.

Charlie76

At least get someone to help build a roster. I know a few former players with extensive coaching experience that would be willing to help in that capacity. They don't want to coach , just help evaluate talent and breakdown film for recruiting purposes. Not sure if any live in the Conway area but with technology today they wouldn't have to.

As we head into the bye week at 2-3. I’m predicting, at best, 4-8. Here’s my updated list of candidates.

HC:

Landon Keopple (Texas State OC) from AR
Rylan Wells (Western Carolina OC)
Grant Duff (Idaho State DC)
Chase Mummau (Tennessee Tech DC)
Darrin Chiaverini (Northeastern State HC)
Chennis Berry (SC State HC)
Gavin Spurrier (Austin Peay QB Coach)
Andrew Aurich (Harvard HC)
Roy Thompson (Arkansas Tech HC)
Tim Horton (Air Force ST Coordinator) From AR

GM:

Drew Martin (Miami OH DPP) from AR unlikely
Braden Erwin (Western Carolina Assistant GM)
Colton Edwards (Tennessee Tech Assistant Director of Scouting) from AR
Will Chapman (MTSU Scouting Coordinator)
Justin Lyons (Arkansas Player Personnel Assistant)
Jake Krause (Wake Forest Player Personnel Assistant)
Deral Miller (UTSA Player Personnel Assistant)
Ross Sharp (Washburn Director of Player Personnel)
Mosai Newsome (South Dakota Player Personnel Assistant
Matthew Solomon (Stanford Player Personnel Assistant)

Interesting note, Tim Horton’s dad coached here back in the 80s and led us to multiple national championships while we were in NAIA I believe

cfbevaluator will start adding and removing names once we pass 7 game mark

Interesting 🤔

Very interesting.

From some of the kids I talked too, they’re not happy here. Need to get him gone ASAP

Charlie76

There will always be kids who are not happy with their situation. Usually always tied to playing time or being told to change positions.
One thing that is not debatable...Nathan is a players coach. He doesn't want to hurt their feelings. He is generally a nice guy and loves his players. All this talk about him being let go will never come to pass. He was hired by the previous AD and I'm sure the current AD doesn't care about entertaining that option.

Just like being the weather guy... never have to worry about how you perform.

cfbevaluator

Charlie76 that is true until the AD starts taking the heat and losing revenue from the football program. With how much more money schools are having to fork out due to NIL, revenue share etc. they’ll make the change regardless of them being friends. Now, for the kids, one specifically is a starter who transferred in this year and apparently he’s not the only one. Brown may be a players coach but that doesn’t always mean onfield success. Definitely understand your point tho. Seems like the AD and staff are close with Brown.

There's not any heat coming from any donors. That's the whole problem in a nutshell. UCA formally ASTC was founded as a teacher's college. Teachers don't make much money and the vast majority of alumni who do give their money, give it to UA Fayetteville. They grew up as hog fans but mommy and daddy wouldn't send them to school there for whatever reason.

UCA has no Tyson, Walmart, JB Hunt, Stephens , Jerry Jones or any other multi millionaire or Billionaire donors who can afford to pay major money to support the program. Even UA Fayetteville can't compete and their budget is basically unlimited.

It's pay for play now and we can't afford it.
I completely understand your logic but the program is in a bad place financially. Hell , the
Assistant coaches don't make squat.

cfbevaluator

Charlie76 I wonder if they’ve considered talking to Oakland or any of the minor trucking companies like Maverick or Bozeman.

cfbevaluator

Oaklawn…

cfbevaluator

I will add that a lot of programs have their HC and GM fundraising on their own and that doesn’t seem to be the case for us

Charlie76

cfbevaluator

Pretty sure Maverick and Bozeman are UA supporters...not sure about the others.

cfbevaluator

Charlie76 oh wow, they need to leave some for us

Mulerider

Has anyone reached out to Westrock?

NewBearFan

Oaklawn is already one of the bigger sponsors with UCA. Having naming rights to a few high donor level areas. Doesn’t Johnny Allison live in Conway? Always thought it was interesting the millions he’s given to Arkansas State and I think Conway HS too. Centennial Bank has field rights to both of those places.
