Some kids do this just to see if they can get a bigger offer from a P4 school. I also feel that he may see who coach is bringing in and realize his time may be more limited next year (in my opinion).

Cam mentioned he would consider UCA if he gets an another year of eligibility. You can tell he bleeds purple and, as a fan, I’m forever grateful for how he led the charge of our best year in program history (to date, CJS has more in store). And Gready I’m with ya, Ty Rob is a cornerstone. Love how how he plays.

On a side note, what an odd feeling being concerned about the transfer portal in men’s basketball! I’ve never experienced this before as a UCA fan! LOL!

There will have to be some regulation around the transfer portal. This is killing schools like UCA from climbing out of the basement. I want student athletes rewarded, but I want some level of risk for them as well.

Mulerider Student-athletes have been exploited by colleges and the NCAA for forever. Punishing student-athletes for exercising their right to seek the best chances to play and make money on their NIL should be criminal. The risk is already built in that sometimes transferring doesn’t work out. Either they don’t find a suitor or they do and don’t end up playing much at all.

Gready then let’s get rid of the scholarship side and keep NIL only. They are double-dipping currently and it’s causing a strain on the academic and regular student side.

Mulerider Double dipping? Not in the least. They were actually being financially exploited/abused before NIL was a thing. NIL laws now just allow student-athletes to make money off of their own personal brand which unjustly was previously considered a violation by the NCAA. But now all the sudden people have a problem with student-athletes making money on their own. And my opinion is it’s not about keeping one or the other. For forever and a day non student-athletes on academic scholarships could do as they please in making money without compromising their scholarships. This is simply the system being course corrected so that the NCAA and colleges aren’t pimping student-athletes any longer. And I’d be very interested to hear your argument as to how student-athletes making money because of their own skills/abilities and time are “causing a strain on the academic and regular student side”. Seriously, how so?
