The Skinny: Powell was in the top 10 of FCS all-purpose yards per game in two of the last three seasons (also top 30 in the 2023 season), and a 3,000-yard career rusher, Darius Hale, was even behind him the last two seasons at Central Arkansas. The Bears have come up with a new workhorse at running back in Chambers. The sophomore has rushed for 1,136 yards and eight touchdowns in 10 games. He’s topped the 100-yard mark in seven consecutive games and eight overall, matching Dye and Monmouth’s Rodney Nelson for the most in FCS football.

Chambers is a straight up workhorse. He just runs so hard. He is a resilient back and that’s hard to find in this league. Henry I think is also up there in touchdowns in the conference and maybe yards. Would love to see where he would have been had Myers played the entire season. Chambers and Henry both will have post season honors and they deserve it.

Does anyone know why Chambers wasn’t on the field for the crucial 3rd down play at the end of the game? Is he injured or was it a special play Nate drew up on a napkin?

That one baffled me as well. I have no idea. Put us in a bad 4th and long.

What was more baffling was the running play that was called when we needed 14 yards to keep the drive alive. I thought we would try 2 pass plays to pick up the first down, maybe next years coach will do better.

Chambers is a steady presence in the backfield for the Bears. Gets the tough yards consistently and comes to play every week.

Powell was dynamic for sure but was injured a lot. Hale was a steady runner who was very dependable but I think Chambers is a combination of the two. I definitely have enjoyed watching him this year but I think he’s going to the portal when the season is over. Can’t blame him if he does.
