UCA voted to finish 8th of 12 teams by coaches and 11th by media. I’m biased but I agree with the coaches poll more, I think UCA stays competitive in conference play all season in the 2nd year under Schulman, with an All-ASUN player in Hunter.

I put zero stock in the media poll. For one, we have no idea who all even gets a vote in that, and of those – how many truly keep up with the entire league? With the turnover rate on rosters all over the country, a lot of local media may not even be super familiar yet with the team they primarily cover, much less the rest of the league. And I don’t know of many media outlets that closely cover the league as a whole.

They probably know we were tied for 10th last year, and lost Layne Taylor, Nehemiah Turner & Elias Cato, and not much else.

But hey, works in our favor – gives the coaches something to hang up in the locker room or weight room and point to every day.
