What is a non-contact ankle injury? Hopefully Myers is able to play. Hate it for the kid, I think he might be the better thrower. Richesson played alright, sucks to not be able to put any points on the board. D played well most of the half, that last drive they gashed us a bit. Nearly had the tackle in the end zone after that great quick kick.

MountainBear I had to make some phone calls to find out. They are hoping he is back by week 3. Sounds like UCA kept it low key all week. We just can’t pepper them down the field like we need to. This was a winnable game.

I figured this game wouldn’t tell us much and with Myers out it most certainly didn’t.

I will withhold my judgement for the remainder of the season until I see how we fair against similar level competition.

Well you will find out when UAPB comes to Conway…was shocked to witness how inept this team is. Decent 1st Qtr…the rest was a clown show.

Our defense was solid. They just ran out of gas. I’m excited about their performance. The Henderson transfer is a dude!! Offense was really bad. The last touchdown wasn’t a moral victory. That was against 3rd stringers and walkons. Brown better figure it out fast. We will beat UAPB next week, but from there it gets considerably harder.

My thoughts after watching the game:

Defense had some great moments. Run defense especially. Some busted coverages led to some of the biggest gains. I think we made them work for offense most of the game, but giving up two 99 yard drives is tough.
Running offense looks strong. Chambers is a legit back.
Passing offense never clicked. WRs had a terrible game, Manny Smith tripped and fell on the pick 6, Triston Edward’s fumbled, Henry had a bad drop. Richesson doesn’t look like he has much of an arm for vertical passing so it’s mostly 15 yards and in for him, but could be scheme. We will see.
Special teams was great, our punter is amazing, nice quick kick, got robbed of a fumble on that terrible kick catch interference call that robbed of momentum. Overall some bad breaks but you gotta make the breaks too. Besides that long kick off return, special Teams did their job.

Hopefully Myers can get healthy quick, and we can bring some vertical passing. Tough game on the road, but hopefully coming home next weekend gets them back on track. I’m still optimistic for a good season, despite a bad road game against an SEC school.

Good analysis. I think Chambers will run all over uapb. That will open up the passing game. I don’t think it will be close no matter who you put behind center next week. I think they are really down this year. My next test that I worry about is Tarleton. Thats our first conference game I believe in week 3. That’s a must win game and they are a good football team.

UCABEARS75 where were you last night in the first half? Yes if we had any offense at all it was winnable. Did I think we had a shot….nope. I’m saying a top ranked FCS team would have had a chance last night. Missouri looked rough. They are in for a long season. We put up a total of 73 passing yards most which was against 3rd stringers with time running out. That doesn’t work on any level.

My thoughts:

Defense looked good early. Offense needed to help them out by extending drives.
QB situation is not great right now. But the receivers cannot drop that many.
Punter looked good. Too bed we only know that due to the amount of reps he had.
Penalties. Different year, same song. Now, the kick catch interference call early was a bit suspect, but not like it would have mattered.
We had some major miscues on defense on coverage. A lot to learn from this game to clean up.

As someone else said, UAPB will be a different barometer of what type of team we are.

Yes, Tarleton will be our litmus test. How we perform against them will determine our chances at making the playoffs (baring any crazy meltdowns like last season).

UCABEARS75 thanks for chiming in 14 hours later. In that moment our defense was playing well. We had just sacked their Qb. I didn’t say anything about NDSU. I for one hope the team can be a contender every year. Last year we were ranked #5 before we fell apart. That team wouldn’t have been blown out. Listen every year I’m let down, but I will always be a fan. If you scroll above you will see my prediction was 50-13.
