The baseball Bears start this weekended against former Southland foe Northwestern state. Team ended last year on an incredible run in the conference tournament.
We lose some major contributors ( Jesse Barker, AJ Mendolia, Mason King) but also bring back most defensive positions except center, some games at short and whatever position AJ played that day.
The schedule leans pretty heavily to the favorable side. Opening weekend is the only road series before conference. All the midweeks are either the instate D1 teams or a close boarding state team ( Memphis, Missouri State, ULM)
Conference is split into East and West divisions so we’ll miss all the Florida schools. Will be interesting to see how the divisions change the odd post season seeding format of the years past.
All in all, the season on the outside looks like it should be a good one for the Bears. First home game Tuesday with a home series next weekend.
