People wrote us off against ACU but yet we could have easily won if we didn't shoot ourselves in the foot. A 6 point loss to a good ACU team gives promise to a potentially good showing versus Tarleton. Reserving the right to make a final prediction closer to kickoff, right now I unfortunately see our Bears losing 34-14. If Nathan coaches like he has everything to gain and nothing to lose, I can see us pulling out a 4th quarter win.

Yeah playing so well at ACU was promising and disappointed at the same time. Now we have ST more dialed in, we just need the defense and Offense to both play well for a full half and not turn the ball over and we can beat anyone I think. Omolo has a lot of promise and now we’re getting Arlie back he has another weapon.

Too many morale victories. A loss is a loss. These are the type of games we have to start finishing and pulling out. We’ll keep losing until a change comes.

Gonna be really ugly. Tarleton by 35 if they want to play the whole game. Whitten doesn’t like to beat people badly, but the Homecoming crowd always wants blood. Also, last year we moved to #2 in the polls and promptly lost to ACU the next week. No one has let this staff forget that. Probably a bad week to play Tarleton.

Watched BB on YouTube. Coach Brown is definitely in defensive mode now. Talked about how well they played at ACU. Pounded his fist on the podium and announced to the crowd that we deserve to be on the field with Tarelton because we're UCA and we have been ranked in the top 20 before. They are #2 in FCS but that doesn't matter. Sounds to me like he is defending himself as a coach...for what reason I don't know because he's not going anywhere.
His job is not in danger.‼️

Heard from COACH Brown at bearbackers and his talk show that we are really thin at the wide receiver spot. Looked at the roster we show 20 wide receivers. Just wondering how many are hurt? Does anybody have any idea?

Charlie76 I watched both as well. I don't think he's counting guys that are 3rd-4th string.

cfbevaluator As someone who was a 3rd string RB at UCA, I don't like how it may have come off but I understand what he might have meant. Reps are hard to come by during the season as is player development past your 1st and 2nd string guys.

I guess is how you interpret the word "thin"
Does it mean we don't have numbers?
Does it mean we don’t have experience?
Does it mean we have had a bunch of injuries?

I'm not sure if I've seen Manny Smith on the field this year at all and he is a Senior.
Arlie Lee was injured in the first game I believe and he is a Senior. He is back now, so whoever took over for him should have some good experience now.

I read it as we don’t have any young talent that he thinks is capable of handling the position. But that is what it's all about...next man up. If you are not willing to give them a shot, why are they here to begin with?

The roster has the following:
5 seniors
2 juniors
5 sophomores
3 redshirt freshman
4 Freshman

Charlie76 100%. Over the past couple years, there’s been multiple teams who have dealt with significant injuries but had that next man up mentality. I remember in 2024 when Idaho lost their starting QB and backup and still finished 9-4. Montana State seems to deal with it every year, especially when they had Mellot and a couple tackles out and finished 9-3 I think. NDSU had backups that could start on our team lmao. Tennessee Tech had injuries last year on defense but still finished strong. It’s all about the coaching staff’s mentality and ability to develop.

Shoot North Dakota and Southern Illinois lost their quarterbacks this season and are still having solid seasons.

The last 3 games, Tarleton has been missing 6 starters on offense. Got a couple back last week. Should have 5 back this week. Our defense is terrible. Looked a little better last week against AP, but that’s where the Bears can keep it a game. You’ll have to score 35 and be really creative, but that’s how you can beat Tarleton.
