The regular season can be broken evenly down into quarters. There are 12 games in the regular season now so we can evaluate things in 3 game increments. A team can be at best 3-0 right now. At next best, 2-1. Next to worst, 1-2. And at worst, 0-3.
Our UCA Bears are 2-1. Having beaten a ranked team, lost to a ranked team, and beaten a D2 team that was receiving votes to be in the D2 top 25, I can accept our record. We are within acceptable parameters in comparison to how we played and ended things last season. If we can't be 3-0, I'll gladly take the next best thing, being 2-1.
Now let's look at the stretch of the next 3 games against SEMO, FSU, ACU all on the road. As a realist I could see us going 0-3. But I can also see a path to going 2-1 as easy as us going 1-2. I see no path to beat FSU despite wishing and wanting to. If I were forced to bet my pretend farm, I'd bet that we get at least 1 of the next 3. With more confidence in beating SEMO than ACU at this point even though ACU is 0-3. And if you twisted my arm a little, I could be pressured to say we'd beat both ACU and SEMO.
So my right now prediction (withstanding injuries and the anomalies of college football occurring), I'm gonna say we'll be 3-3 at the 6 game mark. But it wouldn't surprise me if we knocked off SEMO and ACU and ended up 4-2. Time will tell the tale.
Go Bears!!!
