Man, I hate the term “Bear Backers”. I feel like you can back the Bears without giving thousands of dollars just by attending the games or buying (mostly overpiced) bookstore apparel. Then again it’s just probably a clever play on words.

Mulerider I don’t really understand your issue with it. You can back the Bears at Bear Backers by simply walking into the Hall of Fame Room around noon on Mondays. If you so choose, you can purchase a buffet-style lunch that includes drinks & dessert for $12 – meaning you can attend every luncheon and eat for far short of thousands of dollars, or even a single thousand of dollars. Bear Backers is not the Purple Circle (which also does not require giving thousands of dollars. Membership levels start at $100 a year for those so inclined).

Mulerider Tying Bear Backers in with Purple Circle is something that never even crossed my mind, I guess since I’ve been attending them since I was a student 20+ years ago. But I can see how you could. I hope that’s not a common misconception that has been keeping people away when they would have come otherwise. I wish more folks could make it out regularly – it’s a nice way to get some good info on the teams and hear stories beyond what you read on the website, and get to visit with the coaches & some fellow Bear fans. I’d go every week if I lived closer and the work schedule allowed.
