JoshUCA It’s is officially kickoff week! The Bears travel to Martin, TN to take on UT-Martin on Thursday at 6:30 in what should be a good measuring stick to start the season. UT-Martin is picked to win the OVC. Let’s Go Bears!
MountainBear Football is back! Would be a huge win for the Bears and the conference. I’m excited to see the new look team with Omolo at the helm. Win and this is a playoff team.
Charlie76 Nathan seems to prefer QB’s from Conway. Stuck with Breylen Smith thru thick and thin . I just hope the kid from Saddleback gets an opportunity to show what he can do also in a game situation. After all this is a completely new QB room . Omolo obviously had a good year at the D2 level and deserves a chance to show his abilities also…just like to see both get a chance, especially in game one.
Gready This is definitely a measuring stick game. And I believe UT-Martin is ranked in the top 25. So a win or a close contest would most definitely let us know that we got something good with this 2026 bunch. And I think Omolo is the answer at QB to lead this year’s team without a doubt. Nathan gave all the QBs a chance in the spring and in the fall and Omolo emerged as the favorite. My hope is that we can have more than a few blow out games to get the back-up QBs some reps so that if we ever need them this season, they’ll be ready to step up. Starting 1-0 and beating a team on the road who’s picked to win their conference would be a great way to end our losing streak. GO BEARS!!!!!
BearlyWatchable We have two great measuring stick games. UT Martin to see how we compete on the road versus a top fcs team. UCO to see if we can dominate lower competition. Hoping to see some young guys get some reps that week. Been hearing about an Ethan Philips making noise in camp. Anyone know anything about this cat?
Bigpurplebear Honestly, preseason rankings don’t mean a thing anymore with the transfer portal constantly shifting rosters. UT Martin feels a bit overhyped to me, especially when you look back at their schedule last year. I think the Bears have a legitimate shot in this one. Go Bears
cfbevaluator Bigpurplebear on point. There’s no “rebuilds” anymore in this era. It depends on who can evaluate, recruit and coach while utilizing the NIL to their advantage!
