JoshUCA No postseason for either team. I’m assuming the women declined the NIT since Austin Peay, FGCU, and Stetson got in and we didn’t.
JoshUCA Just saw that EKU’s women’s team got into the WBIT. At this point, I am confident they declined all invitations. Hopefully Coach Kemper will explain at Bear Backers today, or someone ask him please!
Charlie76 Didn’t see APU as being in the Women’s NIT. Stetson and FGCU were both listed. EKU was not listed either. Sugarbears finished at 13-5 in the final ASUN regular season standings…which is higher than both Stetson and FGCU. Something doesn’t add up..😳
JoshUCA And we had the highest NET ranking in the conference at 105! EKU 110, APSU 156, FGCU 157, Stetson, 175!
Charlie76 JoshUCA Then there must be an underlying reason why the Sugarbears are not in the WNIT. They most likely got an invite.
Bigpurplebear JoshUCA pretty crazy. If you ask me maybe a little politics involved in that selection.
Mulerider Still very disappointed there aren’t more opportunities for schools like UCA to play in the postseason. Then again, the tournaments have to make money.
JoshUCA From Coach Kemper’s comments, he doesn’t outright say it, but alludes that they declined a WNIT invite. Apparently on the women’s side it’s NCAA –> WBIT—> WNIT.
Mulerider JoshUCA I mean, I could kind of see it with Women’s sports. Maybe it was an expense that the coach didn’t feel like was going to return much, but I figured it would at least have helped with recruiting.
