Doesn’t really have any bearing on the point you’re making, but it was actually the CBI that the 2017-18 team made. We don’t quite have the stroke to get an NIT at-large at 17-16.
Would love for this season to end in some national postseason play. Not even sure what all tournaments are still going, but even if not the NCAA, I’d gladly take a spot in any of them.
We’re starting ASUN play ranked 4th in the conference in NET at 229 behind only Lipscomb (137) & Austin Peay (158) – the only ASUN teams with winning non-conference records – and tomorrow’s opponent FGCU (206). The average for the rest of the league is 291.
North Alabama & West Georgia are the only two teams in the league with anything above a Quad 3 win. UNA won 65-63 at San Francisco, which has wins over Mississippi State & Minnesota (where our old buddy Nehemiah Turner is picking splinters out of his ass) and the current Mid-Major Top 25 Nos. 24 & 25 (Seattle & Bradley); and West Georgia beat a Troy team that has a win over San Diego State, lost at USC by 1, and has beaten solid UAB & Marshall teams.
There are some teams that can get hot and be dangerous despite their record, but it sure feels like we’re going to be in the upper half of the league this year – provided we stay healthy. Would be big to set the tone with a 2-0 weekend at home to get it going.
