1968graduate I respectfully disagree. They both (assuming we’re talking about Malachi and Landen) had really good seasons that would’ve led to moving up talk and possibly looking for more money whether UCA went 1-11 or 11-1. And I agree that players want to win but more importantly for some is that players want what they believe is the best chance at going to the NFL if they think they’re good enough. More than a couple (David Walker, Robert Rochell, ShunDerrick Powell, Nathan Brown, Tremon Smith, George Odum, Lujuan Winningham, etc…) players have been able to stay at UCA in get a shot in the NFL while some (Kylin James, Tyler Hudson, Jordan Owens, Trejan Bridges, etc…) sought other FBS opportunities instead of staying at UCA. My point is that players leave and players stay independent of whether UCA is winning and making playoff appearances or racking up 6-6 or worse seasons.
As to your comment about preferring a Texas back like Chambers over Trey Harris from Conway or Enoch Assan from Greenbrier, it’s a preference. Can’t argue against that. But IMO Trey and Enoch have the same potential as Landen did to put up 1000+ yds up in a season. Especially Enoch. Dude won the Darren McFadden Award for best running back in the ENTIRE state across all classifications. Just making you aware of that in case you weren’t.
I too hope we don’t lose any more key components/horses from this year’s team. More for continuity and team morale. It’s hard to jell with lots of new team members every year. But if we do lose some more of our horses, we got the transfer portal to try to right the ship. GO BEARS!!!!
