Had to soak on it overnight because the game was just that bad. I actually went to this game as well. The two no call PI’s were killers of momentum early. One our receiver was dragged to the ground. Defense was gashed for most of the night. Offense looked very underwhelming. I knew EKU had a defense that rivaled Tarleton’s in size, but we just couldn’t finish anything. Myers ate a lot of astrotruf and made some bad decisions. It was just bad all around. I’m not sure if it’s the protection we are calling, but something isn’t right. The one play they reviewed for targeting he got absolutely rocked within 2 seconds. We can’t give their Qb 4-6 seconds and ours has pressure within 1-2 seconds and we expect to win. His first interception he should have thrown it away instead of tryin to make something happen after being flushed out of the pocket. The other one being tipped the LB sat right in the passing lane and jumped up at it. That was painful as that was 6. Down and distance we get way too predictable with what we are doing as the game progresses.
Field goal kicker is the bright spot. However our field position has to be one of the worst in all of college football. It feels like we get the ball inside our own 25 90% of the time. Then we gift other teams the 40-50. Wish there was a way to see those numbers.
I listened to the press conference after the game. It was a bunch of Brown blaming his Qb which I expected. The one thing I did hear Brown say that I had heard also is that Myers came back too early on a broken foot trying to salvage the season and it apparently is still broken and needs surgery. He definitely looked much slower than what I saw in fall camp getting out of the pocket.
The trick play on the 50 was probably the worst play call of the year on a must score drive. We ran it to our best receiver somehow thinking his guy was going to leave him. I just don’t understand it.
The good news is that the schedule doesn’t get any easier as we go. The UAC is eating itself right now. Sadly we are towards the bottom of the pack. Losing to west Georgia knocked us out of the playoffs and I felt like the team didn’t respond well last night. It felt like a continuation of that 4th qtr. That I put on coaching.
